Webinars

Aaand we’re back! Welcome to the 2017 webinar schedule!

This year, we have an amazing lineup of webinars and workshops planned, starting with the “All These Years and Nothing to Show For It?” series. The tongue in cheek title came from my own reflection – and the realization that while over the years I have amassed what I consider a healthy array of skills and achievements, very few of those are visible to the outside world.

I know that I’m not alone in my frustration and struggle with self worth – it’s a common conversation amongst the women I speak to on a daily basis. So, in response to what I see as one of the greatest challenges that expats – and especially expat partners – face, January and February will focus on nurturing those hidden, forgotten or neglected areas that somehow, we never get around to addressing.

I’m off to the Families in Global Transition Conference in The Hague, The Netherlands, so if you’re going to be there, let me know!

In the meantime, the Workshops and Webinars series will be taking a short break, but we’ll be back in April with the all new Mastering the Move Summit.

The 5 Questions Every Expat Should Ask About International Family law

New on the Member Area!

In this workshop, we’ll be talking to Lucy Greenwood LLB, Partner at International Family Law Group in London. She’ll be helping us with a vital – and emotionally charged – piece of the empowerment puzzle: the legal changes that affect you, your partner and your family when you move overseas.

If your expat experience is anything like mine, you were too busy with the chaos of organizing a move for legal issues to even cross your mind. If wasn’t mentioned in your assignment contract, nobody mentioned it in any of the briefing or informational sessions, and you had packing, finding home, schools, and a million other things to think about. Besides, you were only going for a year, and if things didn’t work out, you could always head home…

So, in this workshop, we’ll be putting forward a partner-centric plan for finding answers to the trickiest legal questions. Over the 60 minutes, Lucy will be sharing:

  • common legal myths of international family law
  • how moving abroad affects your relationship status
  • changing partner rights and responsibilities when overseas
  • what you need to know as a parent before you board the flight
  • how to safeguard your partnership against international inequality
  • crucial conversations for expat communities
